Norfolk Lib Dems fight Tory council cuts

April 16, 2017 3:32 PM

General housing shotThe Conservative led Norfolk County Council has chosen to cut £5m from its Building Resilient Lives budget, which is inevitably going to lead to a rise in homelessness and mean vast numbers of people struggling to find a permanent, stable home. This disregard for those most in need in Norwich is unacceptable.

These cuts are coming at a time when homelessness in the city of Norwich is already at record levels. Local Liberal Democrats have been fighting these cuts on the County Council and have been campaigning for an end to high renting costs across the country.

Local Liberal Democrat James Anthony commented: "The Liberal Democrats are committed to putting pressure on the government both locally and nationally to help solve Norwich's housing crisis

"We need to understand that housing problems are only made worse by harsh budget cuts and that this needs to be put to an end on the County Council."
