Lib Dem Councillor Chris Brown selected to challenge Conservatives for South Norfolk
South Norfolk Liberal Democrats have selected Councillor Chris Brown, the party’s Group Leader on South Norfolk Council, to be their General Election candidate for the South Norfolk constituency.
Chris, who lives in Denton in South Norfolk, previously stood against current MP Richard Bacon in the constituency, prior to recent boundary changes. He stated “I am delighted to have been selected and to offer a local alternative to the Conservatives at this election. Our current Conservative MP is out of touch and has neglected the constituency for far too long and residents are demanding a change to this discredited Government. I want to focus on the vital issues affecting everyone today, including the cost of living crisis, investing in the NHS and schools, rebuilding our economy, and tackling the climate emergency.”
Commenting on the local political situation he said “Following our strong results in the 2023 local elections, we are the only credible alternative to the Conservatives here. The Liberal Democrats have the right priorities to build a fairer and brighter future for the country and for the people of South Norfolk, where every single person and community can thrive and where we protect our planet for future generations. I am looking forward to meeting many more residents over the coming months and discussing the issues that matter to them and the Liberal Democrats ambitious plan for the future of our country.”
Chris knows the south Norfolk area well, having lived and worked here since 2014 and served as a local councillor for 5 years. He has actively campaigned on environmental issues, support for those most in need and has represented his local communities. He has been a campaigner and Lib Dem representative for 25 years.
